Who Are We
Walkway Energy (Walkway) is an emerging technology startup company focused on renewable
energy. With the purpose to adapt within current geopolitical conditions regarding carbon
emissions and climate change, Walkway has created a thin, above-ground generator that converts
kinetic energy from footsteps into electricity using homopolar generation.
Our Mission
The largest and most important area of impact that our innovation can create is a large reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Climate change is one of, if not the, largest and most difficult problem for our generation and shifting to a more sustainable and circular economy is necessary to solve that

Ben Zhu is the Chief Executive Officer and an undergraduate sophomore currently studying at NYU Global Liberal Studies pursuing a BA in Sustainability, Health, and Environment. Ben has traveled to China, Fiji, Thailand, Tanzania, and other countries to help work at and oversee community service projects focused on sustainability and the environment. Ben also has backgrounds in robotics and engineering, specifically flight science and motorsport. Ben will tackle relationships between institutions, daily operations, legal matters, and help in every other aspect of the venture, more so in the development and design of our generator.
Max Trop is the co-Chief Technology Officer and an undergraduate sophomore currently studying at NYU Tandon School of Engineering pursuing a BS in Computer Engineering. Max has worked with building maintenance projects and electrical hardware. Max will oversee the development and design of our generator while also working on our provisional patent.
Ishaan Lubana is the co-Chief Technology Officer and an undergraduate sophomore currently studying at Virginia Tech College of Engineering pursuing a BS in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics. Ishaan has a strong background in front-end and back-end engineering, which he has developed through internships and research projects, both in the private and government sector. Ishaan will handle the business’ online platform and use his background in machine learning and AI to optimize design elements for our generator.
David Lee is the Chief Financial Officer and an undergraduate sophomore currently studying at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business pursuing a BS in Business, Finance and Accounting. David has extensive experience managing funds and budgets within student government organizations and financial institutions. David will create and maintain relationships with interested investors and manage our funds. David will also work closely with Ben on handling marketing, operating, and compliance matters.
